Comment: I have had this mixer for over 30 years and it is still working as good as the first day I got it. I purchased 2 for my daughters.

Comment: We made the mistake of using the included dough hook to make bread. It didn't make it through the second batch, and while it still works it hasn't been the same since. It's leaked an oily substance ever since, and it's struggling to do some simple mixing jobs. The last time we had it out, the motor started to struggle while whipping egg whites for meringues. It's only 2-3 years old now, but I'll be surprised if we get 5 years use out of it.

Comment: This stand mixer, a real classic piece of kitchenware, is just perfect for the amateur home chef or baker. It is like having your own prep team there to whip egg whites into meringue, knead pizza dough for 30 minutes, or just keep stirring while you add a stream of hot butter. I was happy with this for years until my hobby became an obsession (and my light reading included confectionery text books).
My only complaint with this sturdy standby is that it is no longer large enough to deal with the yields I'm demanding. I also tend to store it in the pantry instead of on the counter for space. I did not buy any of the attachments either, so this is based solely on the item as is (stand, bowl, paddle, whisk and dough hook). They did not seem necessary, although I heard a rumor there was an option with one model for an ice-bath bowl. That would be VERY helpful. Other than that - she's a classic kitchen icon. A must have.
On a side note, white may not be as sleek and stylish as the chrome, but it is so much easier to keep clean.

Comment: This KitchenAid is a treasure. Easy to use (and I never used one before)
and it worked perfectly. I made my first two cakes (in my whole life!) and
served them at Thanksgiving and got kudos all around.
Also the delivery was almost instantanous and I couldn't have been more

Comment: Absolutely amazed by this mixer. It replaces about 6 different appliances that I would normally use and it's easy to clean! The only caveat that I have is that the attachments are SO expensive. Also if you do a lot of dough mixing or heavy duty stuff like that I would recommend buying the Artisan (a step up from this one). Another thing is that none of the attachments made by Kitchen Aid fully gets the stuff on the side of the bowls so occasionally you will have to shut it off...scrape the side and then continue on. Otherwise than that this is a great buy and I recommend it for everyday use.
