Summary: Breaks in about six months of daily use
Comment: This is the third one we have bought. We use it to make smoothies about four times a day. It always breaks within six months--always something a little different. We are trying an Cuisinart next time.

Summary: Kitchen Aid Quality Control lacking
Comment: We purchased this blender thinking the quality would be higher than lower priced models. While it seems good to detach the blade for cleaning, who really cares? They are easy enough to clean, taking off the end is really just a nuisance. We immediately notices that the switch seemed poorly designed and somewhat difficult to use. It failed after a year of moderate use. Even under warranty, it costs more in shipping and handling than getting another one, so that's what we're doing. We had similar issues with a Kitchen Aid blender in the past. They seem solid, but have weaknesses in some small but critical part that kills them, seemingly by design. Then you have to decide if you want to go the trouble replacing the whole unit with another one that will fail early the same way. Why would you replace a poorly designed appliance with the same thing?

Summary: How did I function without this??
Comment: I'll make this short and sweet - Just Buy It!

It's now in the top three of my kitchen appliances, rated by frequency of use, ease of use and enjoyment of use! GREAT alternative to a blender or food processor, lightening fast and the easiest clean-up since paper plates.

You'll love it!

Summary: Plastic collar gets sheared
Comment: After about 4 months of use the plastic collar that locks onto the blade attachment was sheared away. Motor still runs fine but the blade won't turn anymore.

Summary: Very Impressed with Kitchenaid Immersion Blender
Comment: I had never used an immersion blender before purchasing this one. I'm very happy with it even though I have only used it a few times (I've had it a few weeks), so I cannot attest to its longevity. It worked superbly for making creamed soups and mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving. It is a very handy tool and I plan to use it a lot in the future.
